Neon Brown - "The Bringer of Light (feat. Kim Dawson & Mark Clifford)"

With his beautifully crafted new single “The Bringer of Light,” Denver’s Neon Brown demonstrates the breadth of his skills as not just a producer but as a songwriter.

The musically intoxicating track features fellow Denver resident Kim Dawson on vocals, Brown on production and back-up vocals, and the Bay Area’s Mark Clifford on the vibraphone. And taken all together, they deliver one of the year’s most stunning and also conceptually poignant tracks to date.

But before we get there, first soak in just how gorgeous Dawson and Brown's voices are on here, as well as Clifford’s accents on the vibes. They’re something, right? Well, they also serve to tell the story of the insidious loop of violence the world has come to normalize, as we continue to treat one another with unyielding contempt. All the while the sun keeps shining and giving us beautiful days.

This concept is brought to life in the track’s teaser video that was shot and edited by Chelsea Chorpenning and Neon Brown himself. It stars Marcellus Epps, who can be seen running through a dire, haunting landscape that inevitably depicts the world going dark.

“The Bringer of Light” is available now through all digital retailers and streaming platforms and is set to appear on Brown’s forthcoming LP of the same title, due out in 2021.
