Neon Brown - "The Bringer of Light (feat. Kim Dawson & Mark Clifford)"

With his beautifully crafted new single “The Bringer of Light,” Denver’s Neon Brown demonstrates the breadth of his skills as not just a producer but as a songwriter.

The musically intoxicating track features fellow Denver resident Kim Dawson on vocals, Brown on production and back-up vocals, and the Bay Area’s Mark Clifford on the vibraphone. And taken all together, they deliver one of the year’s most stunning and also conceptually poignant tracks to date.

But before we get there, first soak in just how gorgeous Dawson and Brown's voices are on here, as well as Clifford’s accents on the vibes. They’re something, right? Well, they also serve to tell the story of the insidious loop of violence the world has come to normalize, as we continue to treat one another with unyielding contempt. All the while the sun keeps shining and giving us beautiful days.

This concept is brought to life in the track’s teaser video that was shot and edited by Chelsea Chorpenning and Neon Brown himself. It stars Marcellus Epps, who can be seen running through a dire, haunting landscape that inevitably depicts the world going dark.

“The Bringer of Light” is available now through all digital retailers and streaming platforms and is set to appear on Brown’s forthcoming LP of the same title, due out in 2021.

Maintain B/W The Light Goes Out (7” Available Now for Pre-Order)

After coming off the release of 'The Donner Party' with Deca, I’m pleased to kick off 2020 with a pair of musically and lyrically rich new tracks. They’re part of my limited edition 7-inch record, that finds me collaborating with some of my favorite artists.

On the A-Side we find “Maintain,” a hard-hitting but hopeful track featuring Vursatyl (of Lifesavas) and deejay Red C. Vurs delivers a strong message to listeners as Red C provides a head nodding scratch outro. The B-Side, “The Light Goes Out,” includes an appearance from rising San Fran artist Trailer Limon who weaves a gripping narrative about a young man on the brink of ending his life. The bluesy backdrop is courtesy of yours truly, and complements the tone of Limon’s stirring imagery.

The two tracks are available now through all digital retailers and streaming platforms, with vinyl pre-orders accessible exclusively through my Bandcamp page. Only 200 copies will be pressed, where each pre-order will be accompanied with an instant-grat download of my forthcoming instrumental album, ‘L’appel de Vide,’ as an added bonus. Put The Needle On The Record | The Legendary Billy Jam and Neon Brown

Party People!

This past weekend, the legendary Billy Jam was in town for the Crush Walls Festival. The Crush Festival celebrates art, urban beautification, creativity, and culture by enriching the community through art.

I had the privilege and honor of being interviewed by Billy for his show, Put The Needle On The Record. As well, Billy played a handful of tunes from my upcoming album, L'appel Du Vide.

I had a great time and it's much appreciated. Thanks Billy!
